On the first or second Friday of every month, downtown Albuquerque transforms into a walking gallery. ABQ Artwalk opens dozens of galleries, studios, and art-forward venues simultaneously — inviting the public to wander, discover, and connect with the city’s thriving creative community.
There’s no ticket, no set route, no agenda. You might drift from a photography exhibition into a live mural-in-progress, stumble into a jazz performance, or find a sculptor in their open studio willing to talk about their process for an hour. New Mexico’s art scene runs deep, and this is one of the most accessible ways to experience it.
The walk tends to concentrate around Central Avenue and the surrounding streets, but the map grows every month. Venues range from established galleries to pop-up spaces and unexpected corners of old buildings that have been quietly hosting remarkable work.
First (or second) Friday of every month, 5–9pm. Free to attend. Download the monthly map at abqartwalk.com. Parking is free in several downtown lots after 5pm.
